The Journey

For over 25 years, Carmel has been transforming hair in some of New York's finest salons. As the former owner of The Beauty Project 914 in White Plains, NY, she built a reputation for exceptional service before falling in love with central Maine. In 2019 Carmel & her husband Primo made the leap to call Maine their new home base.

The Magic Touch

Those years behind the chair weren't just about cutting hair—they were about discovering what truly works for different hair types. Carmel developed techniques that help both straight and curly hair become stronger and healthier. When clients started noticing their hair growing better than ever, one delighted customer nicknamed her the "#Hairwizard"—and it stuck! Carmel loves nothing more than helping clients achieve their dream hair. She's not just a colorist but a true educator at heart, having spent almost 8 years teaching other stylists the science of hair color as a COLOR.ME by KEVIN.MURPHY educator. In the salon, she is able to customize color for haircuts, hair textures & extensions.

Education Never Stops

What truly sets Carmel apart is her lifelong dedication to education. She believes that excellence comes from never stopping the learning process. Throughout her career, she has continuously invested in advanced training across multiple disciplines; Hair Extensions, Color Techniques, and Cutting Methods. Her talent has taken her beyond the salon too—she's collaborated with fashion designers and even styled hair backstage at New York Fashion Week.​​​

Beyond the Salon

Carmel's approach to hair is influenced by her rich, well-rounded life outside the salon. A dedicated Muay Thai fighter for 16 years, she brings the same discipline, precision, and artistry from the ring to her styling chair. This fighting spirit is balanced by over 25 years of yoga practice, which informs her mindful, centered approach to both hair and life.

When she's not transforming hair, you'll likely find Carmel exploring the Maine wilderness—4-wheeling through back trails, hiking mountains, hunting with her husband, or discovering hidden corners of her adopted state. Her love for Maine's natural beauty reinforces her commitment to environmentally conscious salon practices.

At home, Carmel honors her heritage by cooking Italian family recipes, bringing the same attention to detail and love of tradition to her kitchen as she does to her color formulations. Always up for a new challenge, she's recently taken up surfing at 43—proving it's never too late to dive into something new and exciting.
